Dublin meeting focuses on child oral health

The Irish Society of Dentistry for Children (ISDC) will host its annual scientific meeting on 12 May on the theme ‘staying alive: pulp in trauma and caries’.
Taking place at Finnstown Castle Hotel in Lucan, Dublin, the meeting will focus on recognising and treating dental injuries in children, diagnosis of primary tooth pulp status under deep caries, and evidence-based dentistry studies on vital pulp therapy. Speakers include Professor Dennis J McTigue, Dr James Coll and Dr N Sue Seale.
Dr Anne O’Connell, president of the ISDC, said: ‘This year’s conference will provide a concise update on the current concepts of dental care for children.
‘There has been a huge shift in the management of caries in children; Drs Seale and Coll will discuss the updated evidence to simplify restorative care for children with decay. Dr McTigue will also be on hand to provide practical clinical advice to improve outcomes following dental trauma in children.
The O’Mullane prize will also be awarded on the day to honour the efforts of those pursuing excellence in all aspects of dentistry for children in Ireland. The finalists will be asked to present at the annual scientific meeting. The winner will receive a medal with a cash prize and complimentary meeting registration.
