Combining two jobs can be difficult enough, but when one of them happens to be that of a professional rugby player things can get very tough!
Training in the morning and working late into the evening – this has been the task facing Simon Shawe over the last few months. However, notwithstanding this gruelling schedule, Simon has been able to successfully juggle his full time job as equipment sales manager for Dentaquip with the rigorous training schedule of Europe’s leading rugby team, Leinster.
Despite the recession and the demands placed upon his time, the last 12 months have proved to be highly successful for both Simon and Dentaquip with a record number of A-dec dental chairs sold throughout Northern Ireland.
This worthy achievement, combined with game time in the victories over Saracens at Wembley and Racing Metro in the RDS, and culminating in a winners medal after Leinster’s stunning performance in the Heineken Cup Final, have provided Simon with some very fond memories.
Commenting on recent events, Simon stated:’My employer has been very supportive in terms of giving me time off and allowing me to manage my schedule around Leinster’s training requirements.
‘To have also contributed to Leinster’s success in winning the Heineken Cup is a dream come true. I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to both for the opportunity given to me.’
Simon has been retained by Leinster for 2011/2012 season.
