Dublin Dental University Hospital is proposing to run a Back to practice course, which is an update programme in restorative dentistry and endodontics.

The six-day, full-time laboratory-based course will take place in the Dental School’s state–of-the-art teaching facility between 27 June and 2 July 2011.

The restorative technique portion of this course is laboratory-based and covers the areas of operative dentistry, endodontics and single unit fixed prosthodontics. The course extends over a five-day period during which both the theoretical and laboratory aspects will be covered. There will be a portion devoted to paedodontics, which will last a full day and include an update on stainless crown usage and pulpal treatments of the primary dentition.

The course is designed for people who have been away from clinical dental practice and wish to update and to practise their clinical skills, as well as for those who are preparing to sit the Statutory Examination of the Irish Dental Council or the Overseas Registration Examination (ORE) of the General Dental Council in the UK.

Additionally, the course will be of particular interest to:
• Non-EU qualified dentists who are sitting the Irish Dental Council Statutory ‘Examination Bench Test’
• EU qualified dentists who wish to update their clinical knowledge and skills in restorative dentistry and simple endodontics.

The course will be delivered by Dublin Dental Hospital staff and costs €2,000 per person.
