Pembroke Dental is running a restorative dentistry course soon.
Practical advancement of foundation skills and knowledge is a course tailored to newly qualified graduates with up to three years’ experience.
This is an intensive, hands-on clinical teaching course, covering the core topics of posterior and anterior composites, all ceramic preparations, veneers and adhesive dentistry and much more. It is specifically designed to:
Increase confidence in clinical technique working on phantom heads, one supervisor for every three clinicians
Increase knowledge of correct application and handling of restorative materials and appropriate instrumentation
Provide practical clinical tips and techniques immediately applicable to your clinical practice
Increase practice in communicating with patients to explain treatment plans and gain acceptance/informed consent
There will also be an opportunity to discuss and review your own cases.
Speakers
Nina King is a specialist prosthodontist. She qualified in 1998 from the Royal London Hospital school of dentistry and achieved her specialist prosthodontic qualifications in 2006. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of working in a large variety of clinical environments from private practice to hospital and community services.
As a clinician who has run her own practice for over a decade, Nina understands the gap that may exist between what is taught in dental school and the difficulties and decision-making involved when applying this in clinical practice.
Juan Carlos ‘Charly’ Alvarez
Juan Carlos graduated in 2014 from the European University of Madrid. He began his career working in Madrid, for the same university, as a general dentist in the postgraduate programme, combining it with different clinics. After several years working as a general dentist, he took several courses in aesthetics and prosthodontics in Madrid and Barcelona, and returned to Valladolid, his hometown, before moving permanently to Ireland. With a special interest in treating heavily destroyed teeth, he pursued a master’s degree in endodontics and restorative dentistry in 2018.
Sinead Allis
Sinead Allis qualified from University College Cork, Ireland in 2002 and then moved to the UK and worked in a general dental practice in Essex for seven years. During this time, her postgrad studies included a certificate in endodontics and following this over the course of one year, she completed Christopher Orr’s ‘Cosmetic and Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry’ course.
In 2010, Sinead completed a full-time master’s degree in conservative dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital (UCL) London. This area of dentistry focuses on restoring and replacing missing teeth in a conservative manner. Since 2010, Sinead has been a visiting lecturer for the hands-on courses run at the Eastman postgraduate centre for dentists preparing for their ORE examinations. In 2013, she successfully gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of England’s joint dental faculties.
