IDA launches online CPD tool for dentists

by Guy Hiscott

The Irish Dental Association (IDA) has launched an online continuing professional development (CPD) tool for dentists.

Developed in association with Belfast-based company Aurion Learning, the software tool, CPDassist, will allow dentists to manage their continuing professional development online.

Speaking about the project, Fintan Hourihan, chief executive officer of the IDA said:
‘We recommend that our members complete 50 hours of CPD per year. CPDassist has a searchable catalogue of approved training activities and easy to use ‘record’ and ‘reflect’ functions, so that members can plan, document and assess completed CPD activities throughout the year.

‘Our administrators can run reports to gain a better insight into CPD activity across the professional body and offer more targeted training opportunities.

‘We encourage all our members to sign up to CPDassist and to give it a try.’

Barry Kelly, software development manager at Aurion Learning, added: ‘We have worked with many professional bodies across Ireland and the UK to develop online CPD management solutions and we’re delighted to be adding the Irish Dental Association to our list of valued clients.

‘Our CPDassist tool will help the Irish Dental Association manage continuing professional development throughout the organisation and make it easier for its members to participate in CPD activities.’
