CAO figures reveal an increase in dentistry applicants

According to the latest figures from the Central Applications Office (CAO), there has been an increase in the number of students applying for dentistry courses at Level 8 (honours degree).
This year, 1,249 people have applied for dentistry, an increase of more than 12% over last year’s figure of 1,115.
In addition, at Level 7 (ordinary degree), there has been a rise in the number of applicants from 2,012 in 2009 to 2,172 in 2010, an increase of almost 8%.
To put these figures into perspective, total applications to the CAO went up to 71,843, an increase of 4,210 over the March 2009 figure of 67,633 applicants, a rise of 6.22%.
The figures published by the CAO showed the application numbers as they stood in March 2010.
