New website aids patients

With the launch of new website findmeadentist.ie, dentists now have a simple and cost-effective way of publishing their dental practice details online.
Findmeadentist.ie is a free internet listing of dentists in Ireland that can be found using Google and other search engines, enabling patients to find dentists practising in their local area.
This free of charge service allows dentists to publish their name, practice name, address, phone numbers, email address and website information. They can also indicate whether they see patients privately, under the PRSI scheme or under the Medical Card Scheme.
A list of treatments that the dentist provides, as well as appointment information, can also be published.
The information provided by the site is set up to be in line with the Irish Dental Council’s Code of Conduct Pertaining to Public Relations and Communications.
For those dentists who do not already have a website, findmeadentist.ie creates an online presence for the practice without having to worry about designing a website or setting up domain names and internet services. For those who already have a website, it helps to direct patients to their site, as well as creating an additional point of contact online.
For patients, the site is a simple and user-friendly way to find an Irish dentist. Patients can quickly find a particular dentist or a list of dentists in their area. The site also tells patients which practices are open at the time they are visiting the site. If it is outside of a practice’s opening hours when a patient visits the site, it will tell them when the practice is next open.
Findmeadentist.ie founder, Dublin-based dentist Michael Freedman, said: ‘I set up findmeadentist.ie in response to some patients finding it difficult to get in contact with a practice that I was working in. The aim was to provide a simple service for dentists and patients, that would allow patients to easily find a dentist in their area.’
