Dummy designed to promote oral health

by Guy Hiscott

A new baby dummy has been designed and developed by dentists to prevent bacteria attacking mouths.

The flat and wide sucking part of the DentoBon dummy is anatomically designed to decrease the pressure on the baby’s palate thus allowing the normal development of a baby’s teeth.

A new model, DentoBon+, has been in development at Turku University’s Institute for Dentistry and could reach the market next year.

The DentoBon+ includes a pocket in the dummy in which a xylitol, probiotics tablet or similar can be placed to promote health and well-being. This pocket also makes it easier to dose medicine for babies.

Visit www.dentobon.com for more information on the new dummy.
