Talking the walk: implant experts speak out

At the Dublin leg of the Nobel Biocare World Tour, Irish Dentist’s managing editor, Nicola Kramer, was lucky enough to interview four of the pre-eminent speakers: Paul O’Reilly, Andrew Dawood, Michelle Bready and Egon Euwe.

Overall, delegates and speakers alike have hailed Ireland leg of this year’s World Tour a great success. Held at the prestigious Burlington Hotel, it was apparent from the outset that the company was set to blaze a trail, with the event dominating the first two floors of the building.

The Thursday morning saw a number of workshops taking place, while the conference officially kicked off at lunchtime with Robert Gottlander, executive vice-president of marketing and products, welcoming delegates to an event providing ‘learning you can use for the rest of the careers’ and emphasising that education is available through Nobel Biocare for all team members at different levels. Dr Gottlander went on to say that to provide the best treatment, you need ‘integrated root-to-tooth solutions’.

Focusing on the outlook of implantology, he said: ‘In the future there will be a change in digital dentistry, working in different ways for the benefit of the patient’.

Dr Gottlander continued his introduction with a description of the new NobelActive implant and reiterated the company’s commitment to a scientific background, with even some 40-year follow-ups available. He said: ‘We are proud that what we do we base on science and clinical research’.

With that, Dr Gottlander handed over the stage to Devorah Schwartz-Arad for the first of the clinical sessions, ably aided in discussions by the panel of Dr Peter Wöhrle, Dr Egon Euwe and Bernardo Di Caterino, setting the tone for the remainder of the event.
